The Ritual (Rytuał)
An evoking artistic record of the protagonist's struggles with everyday activities. A series of overlapping human actions frequently takes on grotesque, comical forms of unbearable obsessions. This short film shyly poses a question about complexity, or shortcomings in fact, of human nature. Behaviours, gestures and habits of both the master and his dog, reveal a far-reaching similarity, and their relationship is a never-ending cycle of everyday rituals.
The main character, living with his dog (his alter ego), entangled in the set of recurring actions, unexpectedly discovers a terrifying animality of his own nature. Sudden awakening breaks this disturbing metamorphosis. But was it only a dream?

Zbigniew Czapla - graduate of the Department of Graphic Design of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, specialising in animated film. He is the author of several student films and commercials. He works in the field of animated film, painting, graphic art and design.
